Delicious Cheese Buttermilk Biscuits

 These Buttermilk Biscuits are full of cheese and really thick! Great with Blueberries or Blueberry preserves!
We made them Heart Shaped for Valentine’s–a great way to start off the day celebrating!


Delicious Cheese Buttermilk Biscuits


1/4 cup Crisco
1/2 cup butter
4 cups King Arthur self-Rising Flour
1 1/4 cup of Buttermilk
1/2 cup coly and Monterey cheese
1/4 cup 3 blend Italian cheese
1 tsp. sea salt
melted butter --for brushing on top

1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
2. Put the Crisco, butter, and flour in a large mixing bowl and cut the butter and Crisco into the flour until it is in small lumps. Add the remaining ingredients and mix with your hands until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
3. put on a floured surface and knead 3 times. Then press the dough into a round shape about 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut the biscuits with different heart shaped sized cookie cutters or round cutters.
4. Place on a butter cookie sheet and brush the tops with melted butter. Bake 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Then serve with blueberries or blueberry preserves!
