Valentine Chocolate Candy Cake


1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 t. soda
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups flour
5 egg yolks
5 egg whites-beat till foamy
3 squares of chocolate
1 cup dark cocoa melting chips by Wilton
1/4 cup black cocoa
Icing: Duncan Hines Classic Chocolate Icing for the sides and top of the cake
Caramel Nut Frosting: used between the layers and on top of the cake before the chocolate frosting: Marzetti Carmel Dip 16 oz and 4 oz pecans. chopped are mixed together!
Icing for between the layers: to put on top of the caramel nut frosting--Mix Duncan Hines classic chocolate icing, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 3 T. butter!
Candy: Dove Dark chocolate, Ghirardelli Squares of Dark Chocolate Caramel, Lindor Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles-10 oz., Turtles Minis-5 oz and Nestles Dark Chocolate Morsels 53 % coca-10 oz.,.

1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar and soda. Then alternate the buttermilk and flour, beating after each addition.
2. Now, add the 5 egg yolks and mix well.Then add the 3 types of chocolate and milk we..
3. Last, fold in the beaten egg whites gently.
4. Bake in 3 round pans for 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Do not over bake.
5. Take out of the oven, remove from the pans to cool and seal each layer with a little chocolate frosting--about 1 T.--to keep it moist.
6.Now, put the caramel and nuts together and then put on the first cake layer that you have on your cake platter. Next add chocolate icing on top of it.
Then put on the next layer and repeat. Now add the last layer and repeat.
7. Now put icing on the top and sides of the cake. Last add all the chocolate candy and top on the cake. You can keep this together by "gluing" them with frosting!
